Greetings and welcome to
Sonner ELT.
I provide on-site,
weekly English language training (ELT)
as an independent contractor to companies in
the Munich area. The training is for
individuals or small groups from the lower intermediate
to advanced levels of English.
From 1991
until 2006, I conducted training seminars
for Siemens AG, Infineon
Technologies AG, and Fujitsu
Siemens Computers GmbH, among other
companies. The seminars ran from two to four
days and focused on presentations,
negotiations, meetings, team communication,
and intercultural awareness. They were
conducted in conference hotels and included
overnighting and evening programs.
From 1985 to
1991, I was an employee of Siemens AG in the
Corporate Personnel Department . We were
responsible for intensive English courses
and intercultural workshops for middle- and
upper-management at Siemens. At the same
time, I was one of three trainers on the
very first intercultural workshop ever
conducted at Siemens. My office was in
Munich but the seminars (4-, 9- and 13-days)
took place at the Siemens Management
Training Center in Feldafing. As a result, I
have a lot
of
experience working with mid-level to
senior-level to top-level managers.
Before all
of that, I lived in the United States.
I was born and grew up in the
state of Indiana and studied English and
Secondary Education at Indiana State University. My first
job was as a teacher at a high school in suburban Chicago, teaching literature, writing, speech and drama.
Eventually, I moved to
Los Angeles, California, where I met the
woman I would later marry. She is German, so
that explains how I came to Germany.
My outside interests
include hiking in nature, cross-country skiing,
and reading.
My
reading interests range from politics to
science and
philosophy.
